Right vs Wrong

I believe there is a shortage of people willing to do the right thing in the world. You can see the most recent well known example here. There is plenty to be afraid of if you were to intervene in this situation. You as well may be attacked with the bat. I would still intervene and I’ll explain how I know this.

The biggest consequence there is to being the one to “do something” is to lose your life. I have recognized the things I’m willing to lose my life for, so I’m not as afraid. “Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else is more important than fear.” – Ambrose Redmoon

They are three things. My faith, my wife, and my country. Once I resigned myself to this, I was less afraid. Granted, in most things, your life is not on the line, and that’s a good thing. I think however, once you reconcile yourself with the worst possible outcome, nothing else is as bad.

There is another reason for this though. Because of my faith, I’m at peace with the fact that this world is fleeting. I do my best to not let this world and the things in it dictate my life, but instead my faith. My faith commands me to live in a certain way, I believe that includes doing right wherever I see wrong. I believe this extends to every aspect of my life, even down to where I spend my money.

I do not expect everyone to have the same convictions as I do and that’s alright. I do ask you though that you think about my words and strive to do right in your life. Even when it’s difficult. For doing the right thing ripples throughout this world farther than the wrong thing could ever do.
