What’s Needed For Conservatism To Succeed

Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other. -John Adams.

This is one of the best quotes from one of the many founding fathers though, it is not widely used or understood.

This is because we have come to believe in one or more of the following things. We don’t need God, we are God, there is no God, or we hate God. Recent polling shows that less than half of Americans affiliate themselves with a home church. As, any Christian who is mature in their faith can draw from that, the number of true Christians is far below. (The parameter for that since I can’t see the soul is those who would give up their worldy possessions and/or lives for their faith.)

Because of this we have become a nation wholly inadequate for it’s founding document.

The Constitution lays the groundwork for a nation ruled by individual freedoms and small government. The reason and only reason this could be accomplished is by a religious (Christian) people. This is because we hold that there is law above man. Above government.

With this, we could then self govern. What self governing means isn’t that I keep myself in check, and you keep yourself, for this is impossible. We can’t even keep ourselves on a diet, let alone our own convictions. What self governing means is that together, as a community, we watch each other and keep each other to our convictions.

If one wishes to conserve, to return to small government, one also must push a return back to Christ. Don’t misunderstand me, I’m not saying to use Christianity as a political tool. People must return to Christ only because he is Christ, the way, the truth, and the life. If the return is for anything other than the truth of Christ then in the end it’ll ultimately fail.

What I am saying is that we cannot have less of man’s laws without first fearing God’s laws. If you do it in the wrong order, then all you’ll get is lawlessness.

Once abolish the God and the government becomes the God.
G.K. Chesterton,

  1. This is very well stated and it really tells me that what I can control is how I live and how faithful I am to share my relationship with Jesus with others. I pray I will be faithful. Thank you.
