Purpose of This Policy

This page describes how Daily American Press produces its coverage. It exists so readers can judge our work against a stated standard rather than an assumed one.

How We Source Stories

Our reporting draws on wire services, court and agency records, official statements, regional outlets and documents in the public record. We link to those sources so readers can verify our account against the original.

Where a claim is contested, we say who is making it and who disputes it. Where the record is incomplete — a video not released, a document sealed, a party declining to comment — we tell readers that rather than writing around the hole.

We do not republish other outlets’ work as our own.

Distinguishing News From Opinion

Reported articles carry sourcing and avoid advocacy. Analysis pieces interpret events and are identified. Opinion pieces argue a case, appear under the Opinion category, and reflect the view of the writer rather than the publication.

Headlines are held to the same standard as the article beneath them. Headlines are written to draw attention, and we hold them to one test: every fact a headline asserts must be supported by the article beneath it.

Accuracy and Corrections

We correct errors of fact promptly and visibly. A correction notice states what was wrong and when it was fixed. Where new information materially changes a story, we update it and date the update.

Daily American Press is advertising-supported. Advertisers do not select, review, influence or approve editorial content. Commercial relationships create no obligation to cover — or avoid — any subject.

We use software tools to assist with research, drafting and editing. Human editorial review before publication is required without exception, and responsibility for published work rests with us.
