He also stated publicly that immigrants threaten to reshape the nation electorally by becoming citizens. These comments proved central to Judge Abelson’s conclusion that the ban targeted new citizens based on their political participation.

The ruling noted that multiple administration officials, including Vice President JD Vance, have made similar statements echoing claims that align with theories about demographic replacement through immigration.
