Democrat REFUSES to Quit—John Kennedy Explodes

Senator John Kennedy launched a blistering attack on Democrats Tuesday night, warning the party faces a devastating political reckoning as scandal-plagued Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner refuses to abandon his campaign despite mounting sexual misconduct allegations and bipartisan calls to withdraw from the race.

Republican Senator Issues Stark Warning

During his appearance on Hannity, the Louisiana Republican pulled no punches in his assessment of Platner and the Democratic Party’s handling of the crisis. Kennedy described the embattled candidate as “a predator” who should be kept far from positions of power. The senator argued that Democrats knowingly overlooked serious warning signs about Platner’s character because they prioritized winning the Maine Senate seat over vetting their candidate properly. Kennedy characterized Platner as someone who “can’t even juggle” despite being “a clown,” suggesting the candidate lacks both competence and credibility.

The Republican senator’s critique extended beyond Platner himself to target what he called “the Hamas wing of the party” for nominating the candidate. Kennedy expressed conflicted feelings about the situation, admitting his partisan side wants Platner to remain in the race as it damages Democratic prospects, while his concern for the country’s future demands the candidate withdraw immediately.

Sexual Misconduct Allegations Mount

Platner now faces two separate sexual misconduct accusations that have devastated his campaign against incumbent Republican Senator Susan Collins. Maine resident Jenny Racicot, 41, who previously dated Platner, has accused him of rape. A second allegation emerged Tuesday when ex-girlfriend Lyndsey Fifield accused Platner of removing condoms during intimate encounters after she explicitly instructed him to use protection. Platner’s campaign has categorically denied both allegations, dismissing Fifield’s claims as “categorically false and politically motivated” in statements to The Washington Post.

Progressive Support Collapses

The allegations have triggered a rapid collapse of Democratic support for the progressive candidate. Senators Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, both of whom previously campaigned for Platner in Maine, have either rescinded their endorsements or publicly called for him to exit the race. The defections from two of the Democratic Party’s most prominent progressive voices represent a significant blow to Platner’s viability as a candidate. Despite the growing chorus of calls from within his own party to abandon the campaign, Platner has shown no indication he intends to withdraw from the high-stakes Senate contest.
