Karen Bass Accused Of ELECTIONEERING Near BALLOT DROP BOX

Spencer Pratt has filed a formal legal complaint demanding prosecution of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass for allegedly violating state and city election laws after she posted campaign videos showing supporters holding signs and chanting within 100 feet of a ballot drop box.

The Legal Complaint Details

Attorney Peter McNulty filed the complaint on behalf of Pratt, accusing Bass of flagrantly violating California state law and Los Angeles city ordinances that prohibit electioneering within 100 feet of polling locations and ballot drop boxes. The complaint cites a campaign video Bass posted showing supporters holding signs while chanting “Four more years” as she deposited her mail-in ballot. Bass herself was heard shouting “One more vote to win” at voters casting ballots at the location.

California law specifically prohibits the visible display or audible dissemination of information advocating for or against any candidate within the designated 100-foot boundary. The law also bars obstructing access to or loitering near vote-by-mail ballot drop boxes while engaging in electioneering activities. Los Angeles maintains similar municipal restrictions that apply to all candidates seeking office in city elections.

Claims of Double Standards

The complaint argues that Bass demonstrated “reckless disregard for the rule of law” by not only violating electioneering restrictions but filming the violations for social media campaign purposes. McNulty’s filing states that such activity in close proximity to voters has the potential to intimidate and improperly influence voters, which is precisely why these legal protections exist. The complaint demands both investigation and prosecution to the fullest extent permitted under law.

Pratt posted the full complaint on social media, writing that Bass has become so accustomed to breaking the law without accountability that she filmed herself doing it. He characterized the alleged violations as emblematic of what he called Bass’s “mafia-like regime” operating under a “rules for thee, but not for me” philosophy. Pratt insisted that protecting democratic processes requires enforcing election laws equally against all candidates, especially those holding positions of power.

Bass Responds to Allegations

Bass dismissed the complaint with a statement claiming Pratt’s supporters are “AI cartoons” while hers are “real Angelenos,” adding that her campaign follows the rules. Campaign spokesperson Alex Stack told media outlets the complaint is “blatantly false,” claiming two separate locations were filmed for the video. Stack asserted one location was more than 200 feet from the ballot box where signs were visible, while filming at the drop box location involved no signs. The competing accounts raise questions about whether prosecutors will investigate the matter and review the video evidence to determine if violations occurred.
