Actor Keegan Allen was attacked by two masked robbers who held him at gunpoint and knifepoint outside a luxury Hollywood grocery store Thursday night, leaving him bloodied and concussed while West Hollywood officials face mounting questions about public safety.
Violent Attack Caught on Camera
Security footage captured the brazen assault as Allen loaded items into his truck at Laurel Supply grocery store. Two masked assailants approached the 37-year-old actor, with one striking him repeatedly in the head with a gun while the other threatened him with a knife. The attackers stole only his watch before fleeing, allowing him to keep a bracelet and ring. Allen posted footage and photos of his bloodied arm on Instagram moments after the attack.
The actor revealed he went to the hospital following the incident and suspects he suffered a concussion. Allen posted directly from the scene, telling followers the masked men threatened to kill him during the robbery. Security cameras captured the entire violent encounter in the store’s parking lot, raising questions about whether the surveillance technology West Hollywood has invested in can help catch the perpetrators.
Safety Questions for City Leaders
Allen called out Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and California Governor Gavin Newsom over crime concerns, declaring that the attack proves West Hollywood is no longer safe. The city has installed 39 Flock Safety license plate readers and six live-video cameras out of 54 approved systems designed to help police track suspects and solve crimes. Allen questioned whether these cameras, which have sparked privacy concerns about potential data sharing with immigration enforcement, will lead authorities to the dangerous criminals who attacked him.
The robbery highlights escalating crime concerns in West Hollywood’s upscale shopping districts. The attack occurred at a high-end grocery store where residents expect safety, yet two armed assailants operated boldly enough to commit a violent robbery in a parking lot equipped with surveillance technology. City officials have promoted these camera systems as crime-fighting tools, but residents now question their effectiveness.
Actor Known for Television Roles
Allen gained fame playing Toby Cavanaugh on the hit series Pretty Little Liars from 2010 to 2017, then starred as Liam Walker on the drama Walker from 2021 to 2024. He appeared in an episode of The Rookie earlier this year. The actor promised to provide updates on his condition and the investigation as information becomes available.
