Boy, Man KILLED – Woman Drives Through Game

A 34-year-old woman drove a truck through a children’s soccer game in Wichita, Kansas, killing a 6-year-old boy and a 35-year-old man while injuring 10 others in a devastating incident that has left the community reeling and investigators searching for answers about whether the attack was intentional.

Tragedy Strikes Youth Sports Complex

The horrific scene unfolded Saturday afternoon at the Stryker Sports Complex when the driver, identified as a resident of Garden City, Kansas, plowed through an active youth soccer match. Emergency calls flooded 911 dispatchers shortly before 3:30 p.m., reporting the vehicle had driven directly through players and spectators. First responders arrived to find community members desperately rendering aid to the injured while the boy and man from McPherson lay dead at the scene.

The 10 injured victims span multiple generations, including five children between ages 5 and 9, and five adults ranging from 28 to 68 years old. Wichita Police Captain Aaron Moses reported injuries varying from minor bruises to extremely severe trauma, though all are believed to be non-life-threatening. An additional 61-year-old woman was hospitalized with medical issues unrelated to physical trauma. Authorities found the driver still seated in her truck alongside two children when they arrived.

Investigation Reveals Puzzling Details

Police discovered the woman had brought her own children to the sports complex that afternoon, though their scheduled game was at a different field from where the deadly incident occurred. Captain Moses told reporters the driver has cooperated with investigators, but authorities have not yet determined whether she intentionally drove through the soccer game or if the tragedy resulted from another cause. The investigation remains active as detectives work to piece together what motivated the woman to leave her children’s field and drive onto another.

The Wichita Police Department has requested anyone with video footage of the incident to submit it for review. Kansas Highway Patrol officers, Sedgwick County sheriff’s deputies, and police from neighboring Bel Aire responded alongside Wichita first responders to manage the mass casualty scene and secure evidence.

Community and Officials Respond

Wichita Mayor Lily Wu expressed heartbreak over the tragedy, extending thoughts and prayers to affected families, particularly the children who witnessed the violence. Kansas Governor Laura Kelly offered state resources to support the investigation and local response while thanking first responders for their rapid action. The city immediately canceled all events at the Stryker Sports Complex, an 11-field facility that hosts various youth sports. The Kansas State High School Activities Association suspended its flag football state championship and all other scheduled matches through the weekend out of respect for victims and their families.
